Crushing the AWS Certified Developer Associate Exam

As you are looking to learn and grow in your cloud career, you need to choose a cloud platform to dive in and start learning tools. Luckily for me, my career at Accenture dictated the tools I would first learn. At my client site we heavily use Amazon Web Services and tools.

As part of our TDP bonus program we were encouraged to go out and get certified in a range of topics applying towards our work for the company. I chose to get certified for the CDA and planned to circle back and get my CSA certification.

Yes, I passed my CDA. So what do you need to get ready for your certification? I used an array of tools that I have listed at the end of this article. I think most importantly you need a genuine curiosity and interest for the material at hand. AWS offers a diverse set of services that can be used to accomplish all of your cloud computing needs. acloudguru.com came in handy to get a beginners understanding of what these cloud technologies are and how they can be useful. I suggest going through the entire course twice. Yes twice! Theres about 113 lectures, 16hrs of video, 47 questions and two practice tests. If you are disciplined you can get through the entire course in two weeks. I did.

Be sure to type your notes when going through the course and complete all labs for sections you don't fully understand. My favorite way of taking notes is with a OneNote Notebook and having a different page for each topic that way all information, regardless of the source, could be easily classified.

Outside of acloudguru I swear by Whizlabs. Whizlabs has hundreds of study questions arranged by topics that truly helped me to understand the material. The questions closely resembled the actual test questions when i took my exam so just the format of the question helped me get prepared.
